Using tanning lotion is vital!
When you use tanning lotion, you will tan 80% faster and maintain your tan 90% longer!.
Step 1 lotions: Will prepare your skin for tanning and help to build your base tan. Go through an entire bottle of step one lotion before you begin with step 2.
Step 2 lotions: These tanning lotions will have copper as an ingredient which will intensify your tan. The higher end lotions have a higher level of moisturization and will also help with fine lines and wrinkles. By using a lotion, it will help hydrate you skin and keep your skin in better condition while you are tanning.
Step 3 lotions: These are also called finalizers, moisturizers, and shower gels. These will give your skin extra moisture after tanning or while showering. Some step 3's will actually help to maintain your tan by minimizing flaking skin.
Tanning gels are not as moisturizing and formulated for oilier skin. Use a lotion if your skin is dry. Also, use a good after tan moisturizer.
Can tanning lotions be used on the face too?
Tanning lotions can generally be used on the face, although some are especially designed just for the face (hypoallergenic). Some people have extra sensitive skin and cannot use lotion...if this is the case, then California Tan's Sunlight is a great choice for you!
What is SPF?
SPF stands for "Sun Protection Factor" and is the standard means of expressing a sunscreen's effectiveness in protecting the skin. It represents a ratio of the minimal erythema dose (MED) to the MED on unprotected skin. The SPF value is the length of time a person can be exposed to UV when a sunscreen is applied compared to when it is not. For example, an SPF of 15 means one can be exposed 15 times longer with a sunscreen than without.
